At Wednesday’s Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority meeting the board agreed to a letter of intent to turn over four pieces of property to the Muskingum County Convention Facilities Authority.
The parcels are each a ten of an acre.
"We have been awaiting the confirmation that they would proceed with their intent to move forward in revisiting the letter of intent to transfer four pieces of property that are absolutely critical to our Cultural Event Campus downtown," said MCCFA’s Vicki Maple.
The planning board for the convention center must now meet with the City of Zanesville to have a portion of North 4th Street north of Shinnick and Elberon vacated.
"We need to finish our design development contract pieces and from there once those pieces are delivered to the utility companies and the City of Zanesville then we’re able to move forward with the formal development," said Maple.
The projected is slated to cost $11.2 million and bring 183 new jobs in the first year.
