A beloved woman celebrated a milestone Saturday.
Friends and family of Frances "Mama" Bucci gathered at Adornetto’s Pizzeria on Maple Avenue to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Mama Bucci’s Pizza opened its doors in Zanesville In 1970 on Putnam Avenue, but Bucci started as a cook at Adornetto’s restaurant in the 1950s.
She said the secret to living a long life is the love of her friends and family.
"It’s wonderful, Everybody’s been so nice and friendly and sociable. and I really appreciate it," said Bucci.
Mayor Jeff Tilton issued a Proclamation In honor of Mama Bucci.
Her nephew Vito DiLullo owns a restaurant in Portland, Oregon, and he said the secret to his family’s success is quality indigents and a passion for food.
"I think people in our family just cook with love. They put a lot of hard work into it, and they’re kinda natural with it," said DiLullo. "The Italian women in the family just know what to do with the food, and they all have their own little secrets."
One of Bucci’s grandsons still operates a Pizzeria in the Hilliard area that bears the family name.
