Tax Season Bringing On Many Questions

Tax Season Bringing On Many Questions

by WHIZ Reporter on February 16, 2012

With the tax season in full swing many taxpayers have questions regarding their state and federal returns.

Internal Revenue Service Spokeswoman Jennifer Jenkins said it’s important to make sure your personal information is kept safe.

"Social Security numbers, their personal information; birthdates, financial information, bank account numbers, that sort of thing. Just hold that information close don’t widely disseminate it, and that’s one way to kind of make yourself a hard target for I.D. theft and refund fraud," said Jenkins.

Jenkins found that more people are filing their taxes online, because its quicker.

She added that the process isn’t as complicated as some first-time filers may think.

"It’s probably not going to be that difficult. You can probably just get away with doing a 10-40 EZ, which is our most simple returns," said Jenkins.  "If you’re income was under $100,000 if you don’t have any dependents you’re going to claim, and that’s a pretty straight up pretty quick, pretty easy form."
