High School Boys Basketball:

Zanesville 47 New Philadelphia 41

The Blue Devils stop a two game skid with a six point victory tonight over the Quakers. With the win, Zanesville sweeps the season series between the two teams, holding New Philly to just 75 points in the two contests. The Quakers, who average 61 points a game, lost control fo the game early, when Zanesville began the second quarter on an 8-0 run. A late charge in the final minutes of the game pulled the contest within New Philly’s reach, but they never could quite overcome Zanesville.

The win also gives the Blue Devils a two game lead in the ECOL Scarlet division, with just four league games remaining, all of which are at home. The win also clinches coach Scott Aronhalt’s 16th winning season in 22 years as Zanesville head coach. Leading the way for Scott Aronhalt’s team tonight was Christian Meyers, who scored 15 points, ten of which came in the first quarter. Jake Phillis finished with 14 points, while Kade Haddox had 10. The Blue Devils will next face Cambridge at Winland Memorial Gymnasium Friday night.

Rosecrans 65 Meadowbrook 37

After a big win teams usually have to guard against a let down, not Rosecrans. The Bishops were efficent in taking care of Meadowbrook in their own back yard. Rosecrans opened the game on a 24-6 run to take complete control of the game all while getting some of their bench players tons of playing time.

Rosecrans was lead by Aaron Pary who scored all but two of his 20 points from inside the paint and Zak Kirkbride who dropped in 16 more to help pace the Bishop scoring. Zack Hill also dropped 10 points for the Bishop cause and with the win the Bishops maintain their half game lead in the E.C.O.L. Grey Division.
