Call Center Prepares for Tax Season

As April 15th approaches, residents are looking for help with taxes…

The 211 Call Center referred more than 36 percent of its total calls in February for tax clinics. Manager Audrey Foster said these calls have been the most referred since the beginning of 2012.

"Because, of course everybody’s getting ready and getting all their taxes in, and we do have a wonderful clinic here, it’s a service of United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan County, under our Financial Stability Partnership Program, and they do these clinics," said Foster.

The call center saw consistency with referrals for food and clothing, but Foster said there have been more requests this year for household items.

"We do track needs that are met and unmet. So we have found that just researching it and I was thinking about ‘Ok, what would be new news for 211?’. And I really, I discovered that the difference between 2010 and 11 was a growing need for furniture."

The call center also makes referrals for local donations
