A historic landmark in Cambridge is destroyed by fire…

The Cambridge Fire Department was called to the Cozy Corner Tavern just before 10 p.m. Sunday night. Cambridge Fire Chief Rick Long said many viewed the tavern as a part of the city’s history.

"The Cozy Corner bar had been in operation for years and years. From what I hear, actually, when trains used to stop here years ago, people used to go over to the Cozy Corner," said Long.

An apartment was also part of the Cozy Corner building, but was vacant at the time of the fire. No one was injured, and Long said the fire department is teaming up with the State Fire Marshall and Cambridge Police to investigate what took place.

"The cause is undetermined at this time, although the State Fire Marshall’s office has an inspector down here, looking at it as we speak… All of our guys did a good job last night, and I’m just glad nobody got hurt."

Cassle Station and Liberty Volunteer Fire Departments also assisted in taming the fire.
