A child was Life-Flighted to Columbus after being struck by an SUV in Somerset earlier Monday afternoon.

According to Trooper Pat Townsend of the State Highway Patrol, Jodi Beckstede was driving her black Chevy Tahoe down West Main Street around 5 p.m. Monday when she noticed 10-year-old Chelsey Searles and other kids riding bicycles down an adjacent alleyway.

Townsend said from there, Searles pulled out on her bike in front of the vehicle and was struck at around 5 mph.

Searles was flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus with non-life-threatening injuries.

Townsend said the child was at fault, and no charges will be filed on the driver.
