Finding Hidden Treasure

Hidden treasures could net you a big profit at an event taking place in Zanesville this week.

The Treasure Hunters are holding a show at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center. There you can see broken jewelry, war memorabilia or coins turn into cash.

‘We’ve had several people in that have gotten very large checks this week," said Treasure Hunters Show Manager Bob Macher. "We had a gentleman get over $2,700 for his coins. A lady came in with a few piece of jewelry and got over $700. We are paying the highest prices in the area this week and we have $250,000 to spend."

Macher said they are on the road for three weeks at a time and he always finds it rewarding to help the people that stop in.

"My favorite thing is helping people. We had a gentleman that needed a new roof and we were able to give him enough money for his coins to get his roof. Another lady needed a monument for her son’s grave and we were able to do that."

Even if you decide not to sell your items, Macher said at least you’ll find out what it’s worth. He said to pay special attention to old silverware, especially if if has the word sterling on the back.

The Treasure Hunters Show runs until 6p.m. Thursday, Friday from 9a.m.-6p.m. and Saturday 9a.m.-4p.m.
