The Muskingum County Commissioners held the first investment committee meeting with the new interim treasurer Thursday.
Carol Friel sat down with the commissioners to discuss county finances for the first time since she was sworn into office. Friel said after the meeting, she knows some of her top priorities for now.
"Make sure we are diligent on collecting our delinquent taxes, you know. That is money that people owe, and we need to get it. Other people pay their fair share, everyone should pay their fair share," said Friel.
Friel was sworn in after the resignation of former Treasurer Phil Murphy. Friel said she’s handled it well so far.
"I’m in the transition period. There’s a balancing act, and I’m good at creating lists, I’m organized, so that will be helpful. And the people around me are very, very helpful. So it’s exciting."
Friday marks one week for Friel in her position as County Treasurer.
