A Muskingum County Grand Jury has indicted a former businessman on multiple charges of theft.

39 year-old Jeff McLendon of Zanesville was indicted last week on 12 charges including 7 felony thefts and 5 misdemeanor thefts.

Detective Sergeant Ric Roush tells WHIZ the theft cases all stem from McLendon’s time at Greater Ohio Mortgage on Maple Avenue and McLendon Mortgage in downtown Zanesville.

"We first started investigating this case in the summer of 2011, when the owner of Greater Ohio Mortgage Company made us aware of a problem that had been discovered there. And then we began interviewing numerous victims in this case," said Roush.

Roush said McLendon was fired from Greater Ohio Mortgage after the alleged theft came to light.

"We interviewed several victims in this case, and with the cooperation of Greater Ohio Mortgage, we were able to bring this case to a successful conclusion," added Roush.

McLendon will be arraigned following a court hearing Monday morning, after which a trial date will be set.
