There’s a new technique for gardeners with limited space, and it’s all about containers…

Troy Marden was one of the featured speakers at Saturday’s "Home Gardening Symposium" put on by the Muskingum Valley Garden Society. Marden is a garden designer, and he has spent time learning and developing the container method.

"People who maybe don’t have as much space or live in smaller places can garden in pots and containers on their balconies and things. So we’ll talk about bigger gardens and we’ll talk about gardening in containers and all kinds of things," said Marden.

Marden has been in the business for 25 years, and he says it feels good to give back and inspire other gardeners.

"I’m not going to tell people what kind of soil to use, and what kind of this to do, and that to do. But more about just being inspired to get out and do it, and to be creative and sort of think outside of the box a little bit."

More than 200 people attended the symposium, which featured greenery from area businesses.
