Genesis continues to develop design plans on the new medical center project in Zanesville.

Earlier this week, Genesis selected SmithGroup JJR/Trinity and Turner Construction Company as the architect and construction manager for the new facility. Genesis CEO Matthew Perry said they will bring in local hands to help.

"We’re going to use a lot of local vendors, a lot of local trades people, in building this. And the construction manager, Turner, has a great deal of experience in being able to involve local people," said Perry.

The design process will be complete later this year. Perry said naming the architect and manager completed one step, and now he’s looking at what lies ahead.

"The part that’s next is, we’ve been spending the last couple of months designing the way that patients are going to flow through our system. Designing the system of care. That’s the next big thing that we’ve been working on."

Genesis will also use focus groups of prior patients, to get their points-of-view on how to make the new facility layout more effective.
