A well-known organization celebrates 100 years…

Girl Scouts of the USA hit the century old mark Monday. Regional Director Kendra O’Reilly said 100 years is a big deal for them, and she’s glad that local Girl Scouts could celebrate together.

"Today we’ve invited local girls, alumni, people who have been Girl Scouts in the past, and community members to come join us to celebrate our 100th anniversary," said O’Reilly.

Girls participated in games and activities based on the Girl Scouts’ history. O’Reilly said the organization has lasted this long because of its moral foundation.

"The mission of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. So we encourage our girls to be strong citizens and to give back to their community by making their world a better place."

More than 30,000 girls participate statewide. O’Reilly said the numbers continue to grow rapidly.
