LongHorn Steakhouse Applies for Signage in Zanesville

A new restaurant could be on its way to the Y-City.

Planning and Zoning Administrator Pat Denbow told WHIZ that LongHorn Steakhouse has applied for signage on Maple Avenue.

The signage was filed for the site of the former Goody’s department store in front of the Colony Square Mall.

Denbow said that a chain steak house is something the city has been really hungry for.

"We certainly have local steak houses that people certainly enjoy, but this is the type of development that I know I’ve been asked about, since I’ve taken this office over three years ago," said Denbow.

Denbow said the company has not filed an official building application, but filing for signage is an indication that the restaurant is looking to open a new franchise in Zanesville.

"They have to actually make an application for the actual building itself and we’ll conduct our zoning review for that and see if there are any other steps they have to go through," added Denbow.

The city’s Zoning Department must give the final approval once a building application is received before the restaurant can be built.
