It’s the biggest jackpot for any lottery.  Mega Millions broke a new record of $540 million on Thursday.

Jim Pitcock has already sold more than 1,000 tickets so far at the Mother Tucker’s gas station on Sharon Avenue in Zanesville.

"A lot more people have come in to get more Mega Millions tickets," said Pitcock.  "It’s been a lot of businesses and groups coming in to pitch in together.  We haven’t had too many people playing specific numbers, but if you have a lucky set of numbers with anniversaries and birthdays, I would advise you to play them."

Pitcock said he expects to see an even larger crowd on Friday.  He said it would make his day to sell the winning ticket.

"Everybody can dream about buying houses, taking care of everybody else, donating it to hospitals and charities, so I guess there’s only one way to find out," said Pitcock.  "You have to play before you win it."

The drawing is scheduled for 11 p.m. on Friday.  Tickets will be on sale for $1 each until 15 minutes before the drawing.
