The month of March is National Red Cross Month, and the organization needs your help.
Support specialist Susan Hoskinson of the Muskingum Valley Chapter said her chapter has some important events coming up.
"We have our Denny’s Blood Drive as well as a greet and seat for a fundraiser. Our Blood Drives; we’re having a shortage right now. So the Blood Drive starts at 4 o’clock, and the Greet and Seat starts at 5 p.m.," said Hoskinson.
Only 3% of Americans donate blood to the Red Cross, and with a low number of donors and a limited shelf life for blood, it’s no surprise that the Red Cross needs more people to donate.
Hoskinson hopes those who may be afraid to donate will overcome their fear in order to save a life.
"One blood donation can save up to three lives, and that in itself is huge by dealing with the uncomfortable-ness of dealing with needles and that type of thing, and our staff is absolutely wonderful. We’re there to help calm fears," added Hoskinson.
The Muskingum Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is located on 7th Street in Zanesville.
