A local organization is looking to relieve the hurt in hunger…
Operation Feed held its annual kick-off campaign Thursday afternoon. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz took to his new position as chairperson, and said that community involvement is a priority.
"The volunteers have done excellent, and the food pantries, in this community, have done excellent work. We just think there’s some more to gain out there by getting some more community members involved," said Lutz.
Displays gave patrons an idea of what kinds of food the pantries are looking for. Lutz said this is a critical need to some families in our area, and he’s looking forward to his new responsibilities.
"Every time we do an event, or I’m involved in something, I want to make it the best it can be, and so obviously we want to try to boost up our productivity and try to get as many people involved as we can."
The Hunger Network, partnered with Operation Feed, served more than 950,000 meals in 2011.
