The plans are still underway for the new Cultural Event Center in Zanesville…

The Muskingum County Convention Facilities Authority (MCCFA) met with the County Commissioners Monday to go over some of the details. Executive Director Vicki Maple said they’ve made a lot of progress and now they’re thinking toward who the facility will serve.

"We’ve already gotten through all of the market testing, the feasibility testing, those are basically where we lay the ground work and ask all the questions of ‘If we build it, will they come? And who are they? Who will come?’," said Maple.

The Board of Directors does not have a definite start date yet. Maple said there’s a lot to be proud of with all of the current projects taking place, in an area of our size.

"From the Rec. Center, the college developments, the hospital development, all of the private business development, and now the Event Center development, and the oil and gas, you add that into the mix, and we’re talking about what’s going to be a very, very healthy future for Zanesville and Muskingum county."

The MCCFA reached the phase of its final funding campaign for the project.
