Friday marked the second monthly meeting of the newly-created Shale Task Force of Muskingum County.
The task force was created to keep county government officials and the general public informed about new shale drilling projects in the county.
Commissioner and Facilitator Steve Strauss said he had a lot of positive feedback from the first meeting.
"We had excellent attendance it was a really good thing, and we reviewed the trip we made to Anadarko, and Halliburton over in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. There was a lot of information and a lot of really good question. Our goal was to have some good communication and give a little bit of prep for what is coming," said Strauss.
Friday’s meeting featured a presentation from the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, and Energy in Depth.
Strauss hopes that other companies doing work in the region will speak at future task force meetings.
"We’re asking all of the big players in the shale to come and introduce themselves and tell us what kind of company they are and what their priorities are and we’ll let them know what our priorities are so it works out really well," added Strauss.
The Shale Task Force meets once a month at the Muskingum County Welcome Center.
The public is encouraged to attend those meetings.
