Rainshowers from earlier in the week created some muddy conditions, but that didn’t stop runners today…

The Muskingum County Y held the St. Patty’s Day Mud Run to benefit the Strong Kids Campaign. This is the first year for the run, and Executive Director Craig Miracle said it exceeded his expectations.

"This has been phenomenal. We had hoped to have 40 and we’re up to 95 at this time, so we’re real excited, I think, you know, obviously the weather helps. We got some characters out here today and it’s going to be a lot of fun…We’re just enjoying the day," said Miracle.

The 5K run started at OU-Z and extended through parts of Park Central. Miracle said the runners were in for a treat.

"Lots of mud, the first half mile or so and then it kind of smoothes out after that, but the main thing is supporting our Strong Kids Campaign and all funds stay here to help us provide assistance to youth and family in the area."

The overall winner of the Mud Run received free wings for a year at Buffalo Wild Wings.
