A local organization took a break from campaigning to celebrate its success…

The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties held its Annual Dinner Celebration at Eaglesticks Tuesday night. Executive Director Meg Deedrick said the dinner recognizes the support from the community that keeps the organization going.

"Well it is a rewarding, but challenging endeavor. And we are fortunate that we have the dedicated volunteers and staff that help us raise, raise hundreds of thousands of dollars every year, nearly a million dollars every year," said Deedrick.

Deedrick said the focus was more on the overall picture rather than the numbers this year. Campaign Chair Chad Tom said that after a long campaign, he’s looking forward to what lies ahead.

"Turning the torch over to the next campaign chair. It’s more… the goals that we set this year is, we kind of said we put the stake in the ground this year to start a new kind of philosophy, and that ‘means to an end’ and it’s just continuing to build on the partnerships," said Tom.

This year, the United Way raised more than 910,000 dollars.
