With the old Muskingum County Home now demolished, Zane State is moving forward with plans to add new buildings.

A new Science and Technology Center is in the works for the property that housed the old County Home on Newark Road.

Zane State President Dr. Paul Brown said he hopes to make the historic property a symbol of progress for the region.

"Now the new Science and Technology Center is also going to be a landmark of the future for Zanesville, and our community. So we’re going from poor old Appalachia to progressive Appalachia,  Said Dr. Brown."

The Science and Technology Center will house many of the School’s Energy programs.

Dr. Brown said community support for the new building has been overwhelming.

"Just really appreciative of everybody who’s supported this project, has made it a reality. We’re excited about it. This County Home demolition really symbolizes the next phase," added Dr. Brown.

Dr. Brown said hopes to have the new Science and Technology Center, and other buildings opened by the end of 2013.
