When a group of local students were challenged to raise $450 to benefit cancer research, Principals Kasey Cottrill and Jeff Moore had no idea what they were in for…
Walking down the halls of Zanesville Middle School, dressed in women’s clothing, the two men are proud to say their students far succeeded the challenge….
"If they raised another $200 I said yes, I would wear heels and makeup," laughed Principal Kacey Cottrill. "I said if you raise a thousand dollars I’ll wear the whole outfit… so here I am, in the whole outfit."
In all, the students raised more than $1,100. The collection was for the program "Pennies for Patients"- a fundraiser to honor Central Ohio children battling cancer- with all the money raised benefiting The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
"In all sincerity, we’re happy to have raised the money," said Associate Principal Jeff Moore. "Cancer is a nasty thing for anybody but when children are involved it’s just something for a good cause."
