A groundbreaking was held Tuesday at the future site of Halliburton in the East pointe Business Park in Zanesville.
The ceremony celebrated the beginning of the construction of the new Zanesville facility. Ron Shuman is the Senior Vice President of Halliburton’s Southern Region. He said the new facility will create jobs for the community.
"What’s really exciting is going into a new area, creating new growth, new development. We’re as service-minded to the community as we are to our customers," said Shuman.
The Muskingum County Commissioners, Zanesville Mayor Jeff Tilton and members of the Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority were in attendance. Governor John Kasich also spoke at the event. He said business opportunities like this help to get Ohio back on the right track.
"They got it right. It’s a great community, great people, great location, good access to things, and…It’s fantastic. I mean, I love it. It’s just great and I’m always glad to be here. I mean when you get Halliburton to come in, create 300 jobs, make an investment, and while they won’t tell you this, there’ll be spin-offs from this that will benefit a lot of other people, and if things go well here, they’ll hire more people," said Kasich.
Construction will begin shortly and is expected to be completed in early 2013.
