It was a bittersweet day for Muskingum University’s Department of Music…

Professor of Music Robert Jones conducted his final concert Sunday afternoon, after 29 years as Vocal Director. Jones said Muskingum University has always been a special place to him.

"I’m a graduate. I’m part of the long magenta line. It’s a wonderful place to go to school, it’s a wonderful place to teach, it’s a wonderful place to live," said Jones.

Sunday’s concert featured the university’s choral society and concert choir. Jones said this is the choral program put on at the end of every school year.

"They get excited about the concert. It’s amazing, it’s amazing what these young people, and the older, wage-earning adults can do when they put their minds to it. And that’s my job, to make sure they put their minds to it."

The department’s next concert will include the Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds.
