"SRSLY, DNT TXT AND DRV" Billboards are popping up throughout Muskingum and other Ohio Counties.
The new Triple AAA campaign, includes billboards and radio messages, geared toward warning drivers of the dangers associated with distracted driving.
"Texting while driving is the most dangerous form of distracted driving," said AAA Spokesperson Kimberly Schwind. "Studies have shown that it takes your eyes off the roads, mind off the task of driving and hands off the wheel for an extended amount of time."
Schwind said distracted driving contributes to about a quarter of all crashes.
36 states have already banned texting while driving, and while Ohio currently does not , the passage of House Bill 99 would change that…
"House Bill 99 would actually ban texting while driving statewide, here in Ohio," said Schwind."It passed the Ohio House last summer and has now been sitting in Senate Committee. We hope to see some movement on this bill sometime in the next couple of months."
AAA encourages all drivers in support of House Bill 99 and the ban on texting while driving, to contact their Senator and tell them.
