Every penny counts for the Zanesville Civic League this week…

The donations are coming in for the "Pennies at Work" fundraiser taking place to raise money for the league’s after school programs. Executive Director Howard Stewart said students from the programs are rolling up their sleeves and getting involved.

"They’re counting pennies, it’s math. There’s 225 pennies that fit in a 12 by 12 square tile. My Board of Directors decided to make it 250, which is $2.50. So it’s kind of a challenge, but we’re getting it all figured out," said Stewart.

Donations can be made between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the building on Jackson Street. Stewart said any support from the community is appreciated.

"Well we’re looking to cover 2,000 square feet which would be 5,000 dollars. We are at about 8 percent of our goal, which is not bad. I don’t know whether we’ll make that or not, but we’ll take anything that we get."

The "Pennies at Work" fundraiser will end this Friday, April 13th.
