2-1-1 Call Center Continues to Progress

A service provided by United Way is continuing to see progress…

The 2-1-1 Call Center received more than 1,000 calls in April. Call Center Manager Audrey Foster said the center is able to refer a lot of customers to certain organizations, but there are still some needs that are more difficult to fulfill.

"Each month, we run into, you know, maybe some different ones that are the unmet needs, and I would say that a lot of times your water bills and things like that… There’s not as many community services, or monies, or funding that are available," said Foster.

Foster said a majority of the calls are related to emergency food pantries and hot meal programs. But recently, the center receives more calls related to utility and income assistance.

"Funding comes and goes. So I tell people, ‘Call us back in two weeks if you can still wait until that time’, and we’ll take a look and find out if funding is back in to help them."

2-1-1 has received one thousand calls per month for the last 12 months.
