Mother’s Day means one thing for the Washington Township Firehouse…

The department hosted its annual Mother’s Day Barbecue Dinner Sunday. Fire Chief Gene Hanning said people stood in line an hour before the doors opened.

"We always have a really good turnout, good support from our community. Right now, it’s looking like it’s going to be a sellout. We have about 1200 dinners and so probably within the next hour, those will be sold out," said Hanning.

All proceeds will benefit the fire department. Hanning said they always see a good crowd.

"It’s the 43rd year on Mother’s Day. Sometimes the rain is good because they’re not out barbecuing and everything else, so they come here and get chicken dinners."

Smokey the Bear made a special appearance at the barbecue.
