AT&T Employees Hold Informational Picket

If you drove down Sixth Street in downtown Zanesville, you might have seen some picketers.

The Communications Workers of America Local 4324 Chapter held an informational picket in front of the AT&T office.  Employee Eric Wasson said the CWA is in contract negotiations with AT&T.

"A lot of people say that the unions have outgrown their usefulness, and in some ways, the unions have led folks astray, but the reason that we still have the labor unions in the large organizations like AT&T is so that we can negotiate contracts," said Wasson.

Wasson said the employees continue to work under the previous contract agreement.  He said it’s important to spread their message to the public.

"We just want them to know that we are fighting for the American dream, and that does not stop with just you or me, but all of us that are working class Americans that go to work every day," said Wasson.

The contract expired on April 8th and negotiations are ongoing.
