People put their golf skills to work for a good cause Sunday…

Fuller’s Fairways hosted the 4th annual 4-Man Golf Scramble. The event is put on by a veteran’s group, and it raises money for soldiers of the 2nd and 174th Ohio National Guard Unit in McConnelsville.

"Also to help the family readiness groups, which support activities for the families of soldiers that are deployed overseas and here in the states," said Chairman Jerry Sterner.

Each team paid 200 dollars to participate. Members of the Ohio National Guard say the event is more than just a way to raise money.

"We’re very grateful to have an organization of our retirees that support us the way they do. There’s not very many organizations out there, in the National Guard, of retirees who continue to provide the support to the active soldiers," said Major Charles Springer.

"I tell you what, the camaraderie, to get the opportunity to come out and spend some quality time with the men and women who support this event, is outstanding," said General Rufus Smith.

26 teams participated in Sunday’s scramble.
