Organizations are working together to beautify downtown Zanesville this weekend…

The Muskingum Valley Garden Society and Master Gardeners spent the day planting flowers in 48 planters throughout the downtown area.

"We’ve been very busy this week. On tuesday, we did the y-bridge, and if you get a chance, you must go see. They’re beautiful, and in another month, they’ll be even more so. Today, we’ll probably be downtown for about three or four hours getting everything planted," said MVGS President Beth Brown.

There’s a variety of sun plants and shade plants. The selection was chosen with help from Timber Run Gardens.

"Our efforts can only be done because of the support of our community. Mayor Tilton has been very generous with helping us out with watering. And we would not be able to do this without everybody pulling together and helping."

The John McIntire Library and Grace United Methodist Church were two new locations for the gardening groups this year.
