For the second consecutive week, Haley Gregory of John Glenn was one of the best athletes participating in a track meet. This time she showed her skills to all of Region 7 enroute to totaling 32.5 of the Muskies’ 49 points at the meet. With that number the Fish were able to finish second in the overall team standings behind West Holmes who finished first.

Back to Gregory though, she earned first place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.02 and then followed that up with wins in the 100 meter dash, the 300 meter hurdles and anchored the winning 4×100 meter relay team. The sophomore is now heading to the state meet in Columbus next week winning her events in back to back weeks.

Gregory wasn’t the only local athlete to shine on the girls side either. West Muskingum’s Lauren Paul finished second in the mile and third in the 800 meter run, which qualified her for the state meet in both events. In the field events Sheridan’s Sarah Clow is heading back to state by finishing second in the discus with a throw of 128.03 while Vouge Hall of Maysville qualified in the high jump and Kristie Marcum earned a spot in Columbus in the long jump.

On the Boys side the Muskies were once again very active in the indvidual races as sprinter Billy Shaffer qualifed for state in the 100 meter and the 200 meter dashes finshing fourth and second respectivly. Another Muskie Zack Gieger was able to run away with the 3200 meter run with a time under ten minutes checking in at 9.52.95, but he was almost run down by Sheridan’s Matt Bromley who ran the event in 10.14.08.

The Generals were also very active on the day as their 4×200 meter realy and 4×100 meter relay teams both qualified for the state meet helping Sheridan finish second in the boys standings with 52 points just behind St. Clarisville who finished with 55 points.
