Traffic came to a halt after a head-on collision sent two people to the hospital early Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called out to Maple Avenue just after 1 o’clock.

Z.P.D. Patrol Sergeant Andy Armstrong said the driver of a white Chrysler Concorde was trying to make a left turn when it collided head-on with a black Ford Fusion.

Armstrong reported that both drivers were up and talking with officers after the crash, but were transported to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injury complaints.

Armstrong indicated the driver of the white car would be cited for failure to yield while making a left turn.

Maple Avenue between Brookover Avenue and Artis Drive was closed while crews cleaned up the accident– causing traffic back-ups.

The accident was cleared and Maple Avenue was re-opened to traffic around 1:30 p.m.
