Another local product is getting a chance to play a sport at the next level. After much deliberation, West Muskingum’s Stephanie Imes has made her choice: deciding to stay (somewhat) local and play for Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Imes fielded several offers during the process, but the prospect of playing so close to home ultimately factored heavily in her decision.
During her days in Ankrum Gymnasium, Imes was one of the more productive players the school has ever seen. Earning a varisty letter all four years, Imes played in all 90 varsity games of her four year career, staring in 87 of those contests. She saved her best for her senior season, where she captained the Tornadoes to a co-MVL Championship season, as well as winning a sectional title. Imes earning Special mention All Eastern District for her accomplishments, as well as being named to the Second Team in District 12.
As impressive as her on the court achievements are, they pale in compariason to her work in the classroom. Imes will graduate from West Muskingum 11th in her class, earning a 3.5 GPA or better all four years in high school. A member of the National Honor Society, Imes will recieve the State Award of Merit, an Honors Diploma, and the President’s Award for Academic Excellence upon graduating this Spring. Imes plans on taking a pre-med courseload at MVNU, majoring in biology.
