One local grocery store is getting in on the Operation Feed action.
Riesbeck’s Pick ‘N Save is helping Operation Feed but will also be helping a lucky customer.
"Every year Operation Feed has a food drive and we participate in one form or another, in year’s past we’ve had food drives where people drop food off. This year we decided to do something different, we’re having a 90-second shopping spree," said manager Rich Daugherty.
Riesbeck’s has always been involved with the Salvation Army and other community efforts. They have been working together with Operation Feed for about five years.
"They’re going to be able to stock up on a lot of groceries in a minute and a half, plus all the money is for operation feed stays here locally to help all the people that’s in need maybe hungry, lost their job, down on their luck."
Daugherty says a lot of the local food pantries have been helping sell tickets.
"I’m actually going to have a girl standing out front selling tickets for the last push for the Operation Feed and see if we can help them in every way we can and get as much money as possible."
Purchasing a ticket will benefit the operation, not to mention the winner.
"We have one person chosen out of all the tickets sold, the last time we had a shopping spree they picked up about $400 in groceries."
The spree will be held Tuesday, May 22 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5 each or three $10 and are on sale until Friday, May 18th.
Operation feed will wrap up their drive on the 31st.
