American Pride Celebrates Flag Day

An area business already known for it’s patriotism celebrated Flag Day in it’s own way…

Thursday morning, American Pride Power Equipment put up a brand new 30 by 60 foot American lag atop its widely-recognized 140 foot pole in honor of the holiday.

"Well the ends were getting frayed on the first flag that we put up, so it was time to bring it down and get it repaired, and get a new one up, and we figured Flag Day was the perfect day to do that," said owner Ryan Dodson.

Retired Sergeant Dick Bowers from the Marine Corps League and American Pride staff members were on hand to help with the re-raising. Dodson said he has heard nothing but good things from community members and passers-by who see the flag.

"It’s something that I’ve wanted for years, and planning to build the new store, but I had no idea really the impact that it would have on the community as a whole… And it’s heart warming and I’m just tickled that everybody likes it and gets to experience it with us."

Dodson said the flag will be replaced every 4 to 6 months, depending on how they’re affected by the weather.
