Animal Shelter Ready To Move Forward

The animal shelter in Muskingum County is looking for a new executive director.

Shelter Board Director Stephanie Hill said that Larry Hostetler was terminated for financial reasons.

"Someone who has worked for a non-profit would be perfect, because that’s the important thing," said Hill.  "A lot of people think that we’re associated with the county or the city of Zanesville, but we’re not.  We’re completely non-profit and rely on adoption fees and donations from the community."

Hill said she’s looking for a leader who is ready to fundraise and take the shelter in a new direction.

"We always have our auction every August over at Zane State College, so we’re moving forward with that," said Hill.  "It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year, but we’re really looking to plug in probably two or three big fundraisers like that throughout the year."

Anyone interested in applying for the position can stop by the shelter for more information.  June is also cat adoption month, and the shelter is offering discounts on adoption fees.
