The Muskingum County Commissioners were treated to a surprise from Century National Bank on Monday.
Vice President and Trust Officer Jody Spencer presented the commissioners with a brass plaque engraved with the Muskingum County Flag.
Spencer said with the help of secretary Susan Culbertson, they were able to surprise the Commissioners with a presentation rather than an investment meeting.
"I think they may have thought I was coming to talk about their investment portfolio and banking issues but it wasn’t. We kind of pulled one over on them in the fact that we just came in to present the plaque to them today," said Spencer.
The Plaque was designed in 2002 by local artist Roger Paynos and was donated to the Muskingum County Community Foundation and put up for auction at the annual Groundhog Day fundraiser.
Spencer said Century National Bank purchased the plaque with the intent to frame it and hang it in the County Courthouse.
"It depicts all the history of Muskingum County and we’re so blessed with the resources that we have and our local government that we felt that it should be in the court house, and so we presented it to the Commissioners today," added Spencer.
The Commissioners expressed thanks to Spencer and Century National Bank and plan to display the framed plaque in the Commissioner’s Office.
