The Muskingum County Transportation Improvement District met on Monday to discuss various road projects.
Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority Executive Director Mike Jacoby said one of the items discussed was completing unfinished roadwork on Northpointe Drive.
He said plans to resurface the stretch of road could start as early as July 1st.
"They’re going to do some berm repairs, re-stripe the road and it’s really just kind of finishing up what was started last year," said Jacoby.
During the meeting, Jacoby said a consensus was reached between the TID Board and O-DOT to discontinue plans for a connection between State Route 93 and U.S. 22.
Jacoby said while the project is not being ruled out for the future, the timing is not right to do it now.
"We could be spending millions, up the $3 million in additional federal funds for a project that realistically there was no construction funding for. We talked with ODOT and Federal Highways was also involved and we basically decided it really didn’t make sense," added Jacoby.
Jacoby added that the future of the TID Board is uncertain as of now and will have to be determined in the coming months.
