President Obama’s re-election campaign now has a headquarters in Zanesville.

More than 100 people attended the grand opening of Organizing for America’s Zanesville office Tuesday.

Volunteers are preparing for long campaign, and hope to drum up support for the president heading into the November election.

"It’s all about getting out there and talking to people, because if we’re not talking to people then they don’t really know we’re there, and we need that strength especially this campaign more than anything," said summer fellow Chase Flowers.

"I think we’re all going to be very tired of both sides doing all the political solicitation, but it’s a part of the process that I can actually become involved in and hopefully make a difference," said volunteer Michael McVicker.

"I’ve been with the president since 2007 when he declared and I worked hard in 2008. I was actually 17 so i wasn’t able to vote, so I was doing everything I could, and now that he’s up for re-election, I’m here again," boasted summer fellow Kent Kirker.

"I always tell people to vote their heart, vote your conscience, vote who you feel would do the best or the majority, not only yourself, but the majority of people, so vote your heart," added volunteer Kathy Brantley.

Brantley said the Zanesville office is the 34th to open in Ohio for the Obama campaign.

Presumed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s Ohio headquarters is located in Columbus.
