The Muskingum Valley Red Cross is on the move to a new location.
Thanks to an anonymous donor, the local chapter has a new home. The location on the East Pike near Norwich will better serve their newly acquired counties Noble and Guernsey. There is still plenty of work to be done to the space. Jack Dittoe is the Facilities Chairman and is overseeing the project.
"We need to do extensive remodeling and upgrades on the heating and cooling, also on the lighting we need to completely have the building rewired this is going to be a major project and part of the reason we announced today that we’re doing a capital campaign," said Dittoe.
The capital campaign starts today. It will need to raise an estimated $150,000.
"We do have two buildings for sale, one in Zanesville and one in Cambridge if those buildings are sold then that money will go into the capital campaign and we’ll just reach our goal faster," said Susan McCollister, Chapter Chair.
Due to a United Way commitment, the Red Cross cannot raise money from September 1st through mid-November. The goal is to have all the funds raised by September 1st and moved in by January 1, 2013.
