School may be out, but that doesn’t mean the learning stops.
The Muskingum County Library System kicked off its summer reading program this week. Assistant Director Blair Tom said more than 1,000 children are already registered.
Parents can help their kids set a goal of how many books they would like to read this summer. Children who participate in the program will receive incentives like backpacks and coupons from area businesses.
The library also offers weekly programs, but kids can be summer readers without attending those sessions. Blair said it’s important to keep children reading while they’re not in school.
Registration is available at all six locations. The summer reading program runs through July 21st.
