Three Accidents Slow Traffic on I-70

Three separate accidents are responsible for a traffic jam on Interstate 70.

The most serious crash happened just east of the airport exit around 3:30 p.m.  Trooper Todd Henry of the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol said a Chevy Silverado was traveling westbound.

"A witness stated that the pick-up truck was in the righthand lane, and it traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and then obviously overturned," said Henry.

Henry said the driver of the Silverado, Odjargal Latansag of Maryland, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life-threatening.  He said the vehicle likely hydroplaned in the wet weather.

"There’s less traction, so the tire is not meeting the roadway as much," said Henry.  "It’s also important to have tread on your tires."

Latansag was cited with failure-to-control.

Henry said one of the other accidents happened near the rest stop on the same stretch of the interstate, and another crash took place in the eastbound lanes close to the Adamsville exit.
