by George Hiotis on June 25, 2012

A 27-year-old Moundsville woman is in the Guernsey County Jail after leading Cambridge Highway Patrol Troopers on a high speed chase that ended in New Concord.  Lt. James Tracey says it started at 2 a.m. near Cambridge on I-70 when a trooper tried to stop the driver for speeding.  Tracey says the woman exited the interstate at Ohio 723 and ran a stop light at U.S. 22 heading west.  Tracey says speeds reached 84 miles an hour on 22 including the female driving on the wrong side of the road.  Lt. Tracey says after running another red light the driver reached the railroad tracks at the Old Colgate plant and continued until she crashed into a creek.  A trooper had to smash the driver side window to rescue the woman.  She was treated and released at Good Samaritan Hospital.  Now she is sitting in jail facing multiple charges including her second O-M-V-I in the last two months, fleeing and eluding and reckless operation.  Her name won’t be released until she is formally charged.
