Zanesville Police are releasing more details from a weekend shooting. Detective Sergeant Ric Roush says it happened just after 2:30 Saturday morning at 1025 Maple Avenue and was originally called a drive-by shooting, but was later determined that the shooting took place in an apartment.
Roush says the victim is identified as 28-year-old Justin Minor of Zanesville. Minor suffered a gunshot wound to the lower torso area. Roush says the suspect fled on foot after the shooting incident.
Minor is listed in stable condition at Good Samaritan Hospital. A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. Roush says detectives will meet with Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox Monday to discuss possible charges on a suspect.
"This shooting did occur somewhat on the north end of town, but we’re just having a little bit of an increase in violence really throughout the city, no exact area of town seems to be getting worse than others," added Roush.
Roush says there was a small amount of drugs at the scene but at this time there is no exact motive in the case.
"This shooting is our third shooting in approximately two weeks, whether it is related to the other two shootings, it’s a little bit too early to determine that," said Roush.
Roush is asking for the public’s help with any information on this case.
