The animal shelter in Muskingum County is reviewing applications for a new executive director.

Shelter Board Director Stephanie Hill had said that Larry Hostetler was terminated for financial reasons.  Board member Holly Voltz said the shelter continues to look for a leader who is ready to fundraise and take the shelter in a new direction.

"We are hoping that we can actually introduce the new director at our annual animal shelter auction in August," said Voltz.

In the meantime, Voltz said the shelter is preparing for a discounted cat adoption day.  For just $10, people can pick out a cat that has been spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccines.

"The wonderful staff here are very good at helping you pick out the right cat," said Voltz.  "If you come out and share what type of personality you have, the staff here are great at finding a cat that will fit in well at your home."

The discounted cat adoption day will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the animal shelter.
