Despite many places cancelling their Fourth of July festivities, Zanesville Jaycees will still host their "Stars and Stripes On the River".
Things kicked off tonight at Zane’s Landing Park at six o’clock with a band, rides and food.
"This is our largest fundraiser of the year. The community really comes out and supports us for this event as well as the public sponsors who come forward to donate money and if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be able to put on this event for the city of Zanesville," said David Mortimer of the Zanesville Jaycees.
They are anticipating a large crowd tomorrow night to watch the fireworks go off over the river.
"Things tomorrow kick off at two o’clock, with a local band called Markum and then we have Chillin Sun headlining band, they start at six o’clock. Our opening ceremonies are going to start at six o’clock and then our fireworks of course will be at around dusk, probably about 9:45 or so the fireworks are going to happen. You can come right down here to the park and you can get a great view of it," said Ben Whitaker of the Zanesville Jaycees.
The two day event is free and open to the public. Parking is not available at the park but is available downtown.
