Local students will be prepared for school this year thanks to a Marysville church.

Volunteers from New California Presbyterian Church came to Christ’s Table in Zanesville Tuesday to host a back to school giveaway for families. The church comes to Zanesville every year to give students supplies for their upcoming school year.

"It’s one of our mission projects for our outreach team and our congregation really likes bringing things down and I know I’m excited to come down every year and see the kid’s faces when they get their new school supplies," said volunteer Brianne Ciminello.

Around thirty children received folders, crayons, glue sticks and a backpack. All the items were made available thanks to the church.

"Our congregation donates them. We put out a list of things that most schools would require and we just get as many donations as we can," said Ciminello.

New California Presbyterian also comes to Christ’s Table around Christmas to donate coats and other winter items.
