The Muskingum County Commissioners are reviewing bids for two upcoming projects.
The projects involve resurfacing Arch Hill Road in Perry Township and a parking lot in Jefferson Township. Commissioner Jim Porter said the improvements are made possible by a community development block grant.
"We are allocated every year, but those funds just keep getting cut," said Porter. "This year we were allocated $189,000. Different townships and villages submit applications and project ideas to us and then a couple times a year we decide who we allocate that to."
Porter said businesses are competing for both projects. The parking lot received five bids and Arch Hill Road received two bids.
"Whenever you can get grant money to help supplement, there are some matching funds involved with the townships and the county, but this is a good program, so we like to take advantage of it," said Porter.
Porter said a decision will be made quickly because asphalt plants will be shutting down soon.
